More on: "Canvas" — A Joseph Greco Film
A ten-year-old boy and his father struggle with normalcy, hope, respect, and understanding amidst turmoil created by the mother's paranoia and delusions, and hospitalization. Building
and then sailing their own special boat stands as a metaphor as well as a place for the father-son's relationship to develop and strengthen during this troubled time.
The film and cast, starring Joe Pantoliano, Marcia Gay Harden, and introducing Devon Gearhart, have won several awards, amongst them: 'An Official Hamptons International Film Spotlight
Film Selection,' two 'Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival,' Awards, the '2007 Sarasota Film Festival' Audience Award for Best Narrative, & our very own NAMI National awarded
the Outstanding Media Award.
Contact Oprah Winfrey about the film: learn more.
To find out more about the film, please visit CanvasTheFilm.com.
Help "Canvas": Write Oprah!
From NAMI National: Write Oprah! Please make sure to contact the Oprah Winfrey Show and ask that the director and cast of the movie CANVAS be interviewed on her show before it is
released in October 2007. Oprah can help educate millions of people about the real-life experiences of families who battle schizophrenia by promoting the movie. Emphasize the powerful,
authentic performances by Marcia Gay Harden, Joe Pantoliano and 10-year-old Devon Gearhart - and that the movie was inspired by the director's personal family story.
Ask Oprah to visit www.CanvasTheFilm.com to watch the preview. We regret that an email address previously provided for the show was no longer
active. Instead, email messages can be sent through Oprah's Web site. However, personal notes sent by regular mail have
the greatest impact. Do both! For stigma-busting, it could be the most important letter you write all year.
