Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training

Forty-one officers completed the 2017 CIT training held in West Lafayette.

CIT training consists of an intensive one-week course presented annually by the National Alliance on Mental Illness-West Central Indiana.  Law enforcement officers are trained on how to identify and de-escalate a mental illness crisis, allowing jail commitments and prosecutions to be reduced significantly. The program is presented in partnership with Wabash Valley Alliance, area law enforcement agencies, mental health professionals, and individuals and families affected by mental illness. Special thanks to Purdue Federal Credit Union for sponsoring the graduation banquet and to Sycamore Springs and River Bend Hospital for financial assistance in purchasing food and class supplies in 2017.

2017
CIT training was held March 6-10, 2017, at Faith West Community Center in West Lafayette.
