SAMI (A Division of NAMI at Purdue)
Students for the Awareness of Mental Illness

Our Mission

To decrease the stigma associated with mental illnesses and improve the quality of life of all whose lives are affected by these diseases, with a special focus on the Purdue community.

Why SAMI?

Young adults aged 18-24 have the highest prevalence of diagnosable forms of mental illness in the whole population.  SAMI was formed as a response to the lack of educational materials concerning mental illness on college campuses.

About Us:

The SAMI serves to educate and advocate within the Purdue community.  Our past activities have included sponsoring speakers, movie screenings, a silver ribbon campaign, and participating in the 5k Homeward Bound walk to end homelessness.
